Dr Avni Gadhiya’s path into dentistry began with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, completed through a program built around high-volume public clinical training. Graduating into a busy hospital and community setting meant she developed her hands early and across a wide scope: restorative work, endodontics, prosthetics and surgical extractions, treating patients with complex needs and limited access to care. She went on to complete a Master of Public Health at Torrens University, a qualification that fundamentally shaped how she practises. Where dental training teaches you to treat the tooth, public health taught her to look at the person, their habits, their risk factors and the reasons problems keep recurring.
In practice, Avni provides comprehensive general dentistry: examinations and emergency care, tooth-coloured fillings, root canal treatment, crowns and bridges, dentures, and both routine and surgical extractions. She is deliberate about comfort, explaining each step before it happens, taking care with anaesthetic technique, and working at the patient’s pace rather than the clock. She is particularly patient with people who feel anxious or have avoided the dentist for years. Avni is committed to conservative, preventive care: preserving natural tooth structure wherever possible, catching problems while they are still small, and always laying out every option, including waiting, so patients make decisions they feel settled about.
Outside the clinic, Avni is happiest outdoors. Most weekends she is somewhere on a trail, and Springbrook’s waterfalls and rainforest walks are a favourite. She says the quiet of a bushwalk is the best reset she knows after a full week of patients. She shares her home with a very affectionate cat who spends most of her downtime supervising.
