Makaela is a recent Oral Health Therapy graduate, with an extended scope of practice, completing her studies at the University of Newcastle in 2022. In recognition of her efforts, she was included in the College of Health, Medicine, and Wellbeing scholars’ program. Having grown up in Queensland Makaela has returned to the coast to settle following her studies.

Prior to and during her studies, Makaela worked in the dental industry in various roles completing her Certificate III in dental assisting in 2012. Working alongside dentists and specialists her passion for dental care grew leading her to develop her knowledge and skills in providing patients with quality dental care. She loves oral health promotion and educating her patients about daily oral care needs.

Makaela’s experience spans rural and metro communities in paediatrics, orthodontics, and aged care services. She provides adults with general dental care such as routine scale, cleans and simple restorations. Makaela treats children for all dental needs and is skilled in supporting children to reduce dental anxiety.

In her free time, Makaela enjoys bike rides, the beach, walks and spending time with her family, dog and ginger cat.
