At Coastal Dental Care, we offer two forms of clear aligner systems, Invisalign and SmileStyler so you can straighten your teeth without braces. Clear aligners are an orthodontic treatment which are an alternative option to the traditional metal braces.
We value our patients and want you to feel comfortable throughout the entire process of any treatment we provide. For this reason, we know straightening your teeth can be a lengthy process therefore we provide clear aligners, so you do not even notice they are there!
What are clear aligners?
Clear aligners are an alternative to the traditional braces which are:
- Clear
- Shaped like a mouthguard
- Made from plastic
They are custom-made and are placed onto your teeth for a specific period. Clear aligners can help to treat:
- Misaligned teeth
- Narrow smiles
- Crowded teeth
- Over-spaced teeth
Depending on your case, your treatment can take between 6 months to 2 years to complete.
Which practices offer Invisalign and SmileStyler?
Invisalign and SmileStyler are an orthodontic treatment we use at Coastal Dental Care. We currently offer Invisalign at our Banora Point, Mudgeeraba, Redland Bay, Robina Town and Runaway Bay practices.
In addition, SmileStyler is offered at our Robina Town, Robina Village and Runaway Bay practices.
What is involved in each treatment?
During your first appointment, your dentist will take a scan or impression of your teeth using our 3D image technology. By doing this, your dentist will be able to create a 3D digital image of the structure of your teeth. This will help us create your custom trays and to create a plan targeted towards your oral needs.
Furthermore, your dentist will be able to monitor the progress of your teeth by comparing this digital image. Therefore, if any changes are needed your dentist can make them accordingly.
Following your initial visit, your first set of clear aligners can take 1-2 weeks to arrive. For Invisalign, you will use one tray per day for a 2-3-week period or as advised by your dentist. For the SmileStyler treatment, a new set of aligners will arrive after you have completed your first 6 trays.
You should consult with your dentist to arrange a delivery schedule that best suits you.
How long should I wear my aligner?
From a dentist’s perspective, your treatment will only track as planned if you wear your aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day.
What is the difference between Invisalign and SmileStyler?
Both brands are similar in nature and they can be easily removed to clean your teeth. When they are in your mouth, they are very hard to notice! For this reason, they are often referred to as invisible braces.
If both Invisalign and SmileStyler require the same amount of treatment time, what is the difference between the two?
Invisalign is a well-known international brand which utilises its clear, invisible aligners to help you straighten your teeth and restore your smile. Generally, you will receive new aligner trays every two weeks. These are made outside of the practice which are custom-made and prepared in advance. Furthermore, you will only need to revisit your dentist 1-2 more times if your dentist needs to make any more changes.
On the other hand, SmileStyler is an Australian brand which will produce 6 clear aligners at a time for each phase of your treatment. After your first instalment, you will be required to visit your dentist so they can track your progress and order more custom trays. This enables your dentist to accurately create aligners catered towards each stage of the treatment.
However, we do not have an in-house scanner for SmileStyler, so taking impressions may take longer to arrive than Invisalign. For this reason, Invisalign is a preferred treatment option amongst our patients.

Benefits of SmileStyler
SmileStyler produce similar benefits to the Invisalign treatment. However, it does possess some additional benefits which include:

- Aligners are more customised
Cost of Invisalign and SmileStyler?
Depending on your case, our Invisalign and SmileStyler treatment cost between $5000 and $7500. This covers your whole treatment, but your dentist will be able to provide you with an accurate figure once your treatment plan is made.
If you are with a Health Fund, you should contact your provider to see if your dental extras cover will cover some of the costs.
