Spreading Smiles Across the Globe: Our Support for the Maarifa Foundation

At Coastal Dental Care Runaway Bay, we believe that good oral health should be accessible to all in our local communities and worldwide. That’s why we were proud to recently support the incredible work of the Maarifa Foundation, an organisation dedicated to uplifting and empowering under-resourced communities through education and outreach, spreading smiles across the globe.

Recently, we partnered with the Maarifa Foundation, a volunteer-run organisation supporting under-resourced Maasai communities in Kenya through education and conservation initiatives. The Foundation empowers students with the knowledge and opportunity to make positive environmental choices, contributing to local and global conservation outcomes.

This collaboration began through our long-time patient, Kristy Thompson, who introduced us to the Foundation. Kristy has been a patient of Dr. William Dear since 2013. Through this special partnership, our team was able to donate 300 toothbrushes and a generous supply of toothpaste to school children in the Maasai communities of Kenya. In addition to promoting oral hygiene, bounce balls were distributed, bringing joy and play to the students’ everyday lives.

Maarifa Foundation representatives and their guests personally delivered the donations. The team visited three different schools across the region. Their heartfelt feedback has truly touched our hearts:

“Would like to say a sincere thank you to you both for organising the generous donations from Coastal Dental Care. Together with my guests we visited 3 schools and distributed 300 toothbrushes, plus toothpaste and bounce balls to students in the Maasai communities in Kenya.”

For many of these children, access to basic oral health care items like toothbrushes and toothpaste is limited. By helping to provide these essential tools, we hope to encourage positive dental habits from an early age and support long-term health and well-being.

We are incredibly grateful to the Maarifa Foundation for allowing us to participate in its life-changing mission. We look forward to continuing to engage with global initiatives that align with our values.
