Coastal Dental Care Redland Bay supports The Cleveland Heart Project

Coastal Dental Care Redland Bay proudly supported the Cleveland State School Chaplaincy 2018 which encouraged the students to participate in The Cleveland Heart Project of Cleveland State School. The aim of the initiative was not only to teach the students the art of giving but also to grow their emotional skills such as compassion, generosity and kindness.

The Cleveland Heart Project creates care packages for people who are homeless in the community. Coastal Dental Care Redland Bay was happy to assist the school’s project by donating 50 dental care packages which consisted of items like toothbrushes and toothpaste.

The students and families have already arranged over 50 packages to donate this term. Their goal is to be able to donate 100 packages at the end of the term to the Night Ninjas.

About The Night Ninjas

The Night Ninjas are a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. They support the Redland City homeless community. The Night Ninjas help put together donations of clothing, blankets, food and other essentials to deliver them directly to people that are in need.

The Night Ninjas currently provide services on Monday nights in the Redland City area. They are hoping to expand their organisation to the outer Brisbane suburbs in the future.

Homelessness on the rise in Australia

The 2016 Census of Population and Housing revealed a rising number of homeless people in Australia. More than 116,000 people experienced homelessness during the 2016 Census, a 4.6% increase from the 2011 Census.1 Just for Queensland, the Census estimated more than 21,000 homeless people.2
