Sedation Dentistry
Sleep Dentistry Takes the Fear Out of Visiting the Dentist
Are you afraid of the dentist? Fear no more! Coastal Dental Care is pleased to offer dental treatments under General Anaesthetic (Sleep Dentistry) to our patients who have a dental phobia. This way, patients can receive the oral health care they need without feeling any stress or discomfort.
Dental care without the fear
If you find you are overwhelmed by the noises, smells and sounds you encounter during a visit to the dentist, mild sedation or general anaesthetic could be the solutions you have been searching for.
We offer our patients the option of undergoing their dental treatment such as cleans, fillings and extractions under Oral Sedation (medicine taken 1 hour before your dental appointment). For those who wish to be completely asleep during treatment, we can offer general anaesthesia at the Gold Coast Private Hospital with Dr Norah Ayad, who is a qualified dentist and working at our Coastal Dental Care Burleigh Waters practice.
The general anaesthesia is administered by a Specialist Anaesthetist in the state of the art operating theatres of the Gold Coast Private Hospital.
Thanks to her extensive experience, Dr Norah Ayad is able to perform your dental treatments while you are either sedated or fully asleep, taking the stress out of your dental visit.
For your initial consultation with Dr Norah Ayad, please make an appointment at our Burleigh Waters practice.
How does sleep dentistry work?
General anaesthesia puts your body into a temporary, controlled, and closely monitored state of unconsciousness where you are fully relaxed and at ease.
While you are under the anaesthetic, Dr Norah Ayad is then able complete your treatment without the risk of your protective reflexes interfering.
It is important to remember every treatment comes with associated risks, and we recommend that you share your concerns with our experienced team if you have any queries about your dental treatment.
Can anyone undergo dentistry under a general anaesthetic?
General anaesthetic can be administered to a vast majority of our patients and depending on your health circumstances it can be a great solution for those who have a dental phobia.
To find out if you are a suitable candidate for sleep dentistry, please contact our Burleigh Waters practice or book your consultation online here.
Your sedation dentistry consultation
If you have any concerns or questions about the procedure, please bring this up with Dr Norah Ayad at your initial consultation. We recommend you bring any dental x-rays and relevant medical history with you.
It should be noted that you may be required to sit in the dental chair at your consultation for a non-invasive and painless assessment of your dental issue so that we can plan your treatment. Don’t stress though – we promise we will leave the dental work for when you’re comfortably ‘asleep’.
