Melena graduated from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, in 2019. She obtained a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in Oral Health, and proudly graduated at the top of her class. Her dedication to academic excellence and passion for healthcare set a strong foundation for her career in dentistry.

Following graduation, Melena worked in the public health sector in New Zealand from 2019 to 2022, focusing exclusively on paediatric dentistry. It was during this time that she developed a deep appreciation for working with children and adolescents. In 2022, Melena decided to move to Australia’s Gold Coast and continued her career in private practice in northern New South Wales, where she worked until 2025. After taking a three-month break to travel and live in Japan, Melena has now happily settled on the southern end of the Gold Coast.

Prior to her studies in Oral Health, Melena was a qualified Dental Assistant since 2013. It was during this early exposure to dentistry that she discovered her passion for oral health education and helping people develop better dental habits. Over the years, she has particularly loved working with paediatric patients, finding great reward in helping children — especially neurodivergent patients, overcome their dental anxieties.

Melena places a strong emphasis on creating positive dental experiences for all patients. She values a conservative approach to dentistry, focusing on prevention and early intervention wherever possible. Patients often describe her as kind, gentle, and patient, with an ability to help even the most nervous individuals feel comfortable and cared for.

Outside of work, Melena enjoys spending time at the beach, exploring the beautiful coastline with her dog, Daisy. She also loves anything creative, enjoys cooking, reading, and is an avid snowboarder whenever she gets the chance.
