Amber Oberholzer

Amber Oberholzer

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Amber spent most of her childhood there before relocating to Brisbane with her family. She later moved to Rockhampton and completed a Bachelor of Oral Health at Central Queensland University. Living regionally broadened her understanding of healthcare disparities and strengthened her commitment to community-focused dental care. She recently relocated to the Gold Coast and looks forward to the new experiences and opportunities.

Amber chose dentistry because it merges her love for science with her desire to help others. The ability to positively impact someone’s dental health and confidence through dental care motivates her daily. She enjoys the hands-on patient care and the opportunity for continual learning.

Amber’s philosophy of dental care is preventative dentistry. She aims to create a welcoming and supportive environment for her patients. Her goal is establishing a dental home, fostering regular check-ups, and promoting good oral health habits from an early age. Amber enjoys working with paediatric patients and focusing on periodontal therapy.

During her student placement, Amber worked closely with patients from a low socioeconomic background and engaged in community outreach at a rehabilitation centre. These experiences inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Science (Honours). She is currently doing a research project to provide valuable insights into substance-related challenges within oral health, particularly in regional dental settings. Alongside her studies, she is undertaking a course to become a Justice of the Peace, with a keen interest in community service and volunteering.

Outside of work, Amber firmly believes in personal growth through continuous learning and self-improvement. She finds solace in reading across various genres and intellectual stimulation in playing chess. Her family, which includes her two younger brothers and two huskies, holds a special place in her heart. She cherishes her friendships, finds beauty in sunsets, and finds balance in her gym sessions. Amber is fluent in English and Afrikaans, a testament to her multicultural background and ability to connect with diverse communities.
