Same-day Crowns at Coastal Dental Care
If you’ve ever needed a dental crown, you might remember the traditional process—multiple appointments, messy impressions, temporary crowns, and waiting for a lab to craft the final restoration. However, that’s no longer the case with same-day crowns because advanced CEREC technology allows our dentists to design, create, and place a custom crown in just one visit!

What Are Same-Day Crowns?
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a system that uses computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology to create precise, high-quality ceramic crowns in hours.
Traditionally, getting a crown meant at least two appointments and weeks of waiting. Same-day crowns offer a fast, efficient, and high-quality solution for restoring damaged teeth. If you’ve been delaying treatment due to time constraints, this same-day option might be ideal for you.
Is a Dental Crown Right for You?
CEREC same-day crowns are a great option for:
- Teeth with large fillings that need additional support
- Cracked, chipped, or worn-down teeth
- A tooth that requires extensive structural support
- Restoring a tooth after a root canal
Your dentist will evaluate your case and determine whether a crown is the best treatment option.
What is The Process for Same-Day Crowns?
- Digital Impressions – Instead of traditional putty-like materials, a small scanner captures a highly detailed 3D image of your tooth.
- Custom Design – Using specialised software, your dentist designs your crown to match the shape, size, and shade of your natural teeth.
- Milling Process – The design is sent to an in-office milling machine, which shapes the crown from a strong ceramic block in minutes.
- Placement – The dentist checks the fit, makes any necessary adjustments, and bonds the crown to your tooth, all within a single visit.
Most patients adjust to their new crown quickly. You might experience mild sensitivity initially, but this usually subsides within a few days.
How Long Will My Crown Last?
A well-maintained crown can last 10 to 15 years (often even longer) with proper oral care. Factors that influence its lifespan include:
- Oral hygiene: Regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings help keep your crown in top condition.
- Diet: Avoiding hard foods, excessive sugar, and acidic drinks can prevent unnecessary wear and tear.
- Teeth grinding or clenching: Your dentist may recommend a night guard to protect your crown.
- Regular dental visits: Routine check-ups allow your dentist to monitor your crown and address any issues early on.
